HOMEWOEK: Children should work on memorizing an Act of Contrition.
The Act of Contrition we suggest is:
My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ
suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.
It is worthwhile having your child memorize this prayer - after all, it will last him/her a lifetime! However, if your child struggles with memorization, a simple prayer such as the one on the card, will suffice....and it is perfectly find to read it!
