OBJECTIVES AND HOMEWORK September 30

FIRST GRADE
OBJECTIVES:
·       Children will know that Jesus taught us the Our Father
·       Children will have the opportunity to explore the meaning of the Our Father
·       Children will learn how to pray the Our Father with gestures
·       Children will color an Our Father booklet to take home
HOMEWORK:  Practice doing the Our Father with the gestures, according to the sheet sent home. 

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
OBJECTIVES
·       Students will explore the idea that God is eternal.
·       Students will review the concept of the Holy Trinity.
·       They will know that God made us to know, love and serve Him.
·       Students will recognize Adam and Eve as the first people God created.
·       Students will understand Grace as part of God’s own life that He shares with us in our souls
HOME WORK:  Children should complete the word-scramble activity “God’s Children”, with parents’ help, if needed. Discuss these ideas with your children. What are some examples of times when we think, love and make choices?  What kind of choices does God want us to make? (loving choices) Can you point out times your child has had a decision and has chosen to act lovingly?

THIRD GRADE
OBJECTIVES
·       Students will review the concept of Trinity
·       Students will understand the difference between “create” and “make”
·       Children will recognize that all God’s creation is good, and that we can choose to use God’s creation properly or badly.
·       Children will understand that God created us to know, love and serve Him.
HOMEWORK:  Children should work with their parents to complete the worksheet.   Parents – ask your children what they think heaven is like – and share your own ideas. 
  
FOURTH GRADE
OBJECTIVES
·       Students will review the story of The Fall.
·       Students will recognize the term Original Sin as referring to Adam and Eve’s sin.
·       Students will distinguish “original sin” from “actual sin”.
·       Students will understand we have a free choice to obey God or to sin.
·       Students will understand that they are “tested” every day.
HOMEWORK:  Do the worksheet.  Children should complete the snake if it wasn’t completed in class.

FIFTH GRADE
OBJECTIVES
·       Students will be able to distinguish the twelve doctrines that are part of the Apostles Creed
·       Students will use the Bible to explore the attributes of God
·       Students will understand that to know God we must have a relationship with Him

HOMEWORK:  Read chapter 2 in the text.  Complete the crossword.
