SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION - WEEK FOUR October 11 - BAPTISM

OBJECTIVES

  • Children will learn that at baptism we receive God's grace - His very own life in our souls!
  • Children will learn that Sacraments are special ways Jesus gave us to receive God's grace.  They will look forward to receiving two more Sacraments this year.
  • Children will learn that when they are baptized, they become a member of the Church - they become Christians!

This is a fun lesson.  Children see how their nametags have come together to form the graphic
of a church.
Each taking a few blocks, to represent themselves and their families, and piling them up to make a structure, they discover that every single block is critical!
And in one of my favorite illustrations, we look at a lamp - a lamp that is beautiful, and workable in every way - but it won't give light unless it is plugged in!  That is a little image of what happens to us, when we are baptized!  We are connected to God, who will give us light and life that we can reflect to others.

HOMEWORK - Read Chapter 6 to your child.  Practice making the Sign of the Cross.
